The Binary Biker at Sturgis, 2013

Welcome to BinaryBiker.com!  My blog is my online venue to espouse about anything and everything that interests me.

This blog is the latest incarnation of a site I started in 1998 called “iSciFiStory.com” – which was at one time featured on NPR’s All Things Considered, featured in Science Magazine, and headlined on Slashdot and Fark as a result of my Periodic Table of Haiku.

Sadly, when the pressures of being a web admin of a Flash Fiction site overwhelmed my writing, I shut the site down and abandoned the domain.  I have come to regret that many times over the years, but the past is the past and one must move on, right?

So who is the Binary Biker?

I am Ron Sparks.  I am the father of three amazing children.  I am husband to an amazing woman.  I am a cancer survivor.  I am an amateur astronomer when I find the time to take my telescopes out.  I am an avid motorcycle rider and aficionado. I am a program and product manager for high-tech startups.  I am an armchair philosopher.  I am a critical thinker.  I am a writer.

I have three “officially” published books right now.  The first is a story I started on iSciFiStory.com with a friend.  After I closed the site down, she finished the story and got it published.  It’s called “The Saint and the Demon” and you can purchase it here.

The second is an essay on patriotism that I wrote on this blog.  It was picked up and, with permission, printed in a high school / early college textbook titled “Current Controversies: Patriotism.”  My essay is included along side many great men in the world today, including President Barack Obama and Ron Paul.  You can purchase the book here.

The third is a collection of science-fiction sort stories I published as an ebook on Amazon.  It has much of my early writings and stories that were inspired on iSciFiStory.com.  You can purchase it here.

  1. Hey, that’s my bike on the left!

    • I’d like to get your permission to reprint a pice you wrote in an upcoming textbook. Where can I send my request? Thanks, Mark

  2. SILENCE!!! I kill you!!!!!

  3. Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
