My Shrinking Belly

Short blog this morning….

I weigh between 162-168 pounds now. Before my treatments started I had a nice comfortable layer of fat on my body and weighed between 195-205 pounds. I had a 34-inch waist (although I said it was 33-inches because I could fit into my 33-inch jeans if I just decided against breathing or moving).

I am actually at my ideal body weight now, but I’ve lost a lot of muscle mass as well. As soon as I am able I intend to gain the muscle back without gaining the lost fat. We’ll see.

So anyway, my oldest son (Matthew), came by this morning to get his slacks. He’s on the Boone High School wrestling team and on game day the entire team dresses nice at school. He couldn’t find his slacks and was stressing – especially because he won his wrestle-off this week and is actually wrestling tonight.

I asked him what size pants he wears now. He wears a 30-inch waist.

I was floored. I have a 30-inch waist now. For Christmas I got two new pairs of jeans with a 30-inch waist because all of my old clothes are falling off of me. Here’s the kicker – 30-inch waist is actually a little large on me; I have to wear a belt.

So I ended up letting Matthew wear my nice new jeans and a dress shirt. Then the little bastard took my belt as well!

The reality of how much weight Ive lost really hit me this morning. My 15-year-old son has, literally less than 6% body fat. He’s so skinny I make fun of him, pretending like he’s disappeared when he turns sideways.

And he wears my clothes now. Sheesh – maybe I AM too skinny now.
